Frog Lake First Nations #121 and 122 Election Code for Elected Officials

Whereas; the Frog Lake First Nations #121 Unipouihousand 122Puskiakiwenin has the inherent authority to adopt, by way of Custom, a method for its Elected Representatives as the Frog Lake First Nations #121 and 122 Chief and Council, [as recognized by subsection 2(1) of the Indian Act, R.S.C. 1985, c. 1-5, and as recognized by the subsection of the Indian Act, R.S.C. 1970, c. 1-6];

And Whereas; this Custom Election Code for the method of selecting its Elected Representatives as the Frog Lake First Nations #121 and 122 Chief and Councilas that the Frog Lake First Nations #121 Unipouihous and 122 Puskiakiweninhaving the inherent responsibilities, rights and powers to govern ourselves and the lands to which we belong, from time immemorial granted to us by the Creator for as long as the grass grows and the water flows;

And Whereas; the enactment of this Custom Election Code shall not be considered as an erosion of the Spirit and Intent of Treaty # 6 of 1876;

And Whereas; the enactment of this Custom Election Code does not relieve the fiduciary and trust responsibilities assumed through Treaty # 6by the various levels of the government of Canada in right of Her Majesty the Queen;

We Therefore; set forth here the custom of the Frog Lake First Nations #121Unipouihous and 122Puskiakiwenin as to the election of the Chief and Council, constituting the Custom Election Code of Elected Officials of the Frog Lake First Nations #121Unipouihous and 122Puskiakiwenin;

Now Therefore; the Frog Lake First Nations #121 Unipouihousand 122Pukiakiwenin do hereby adopt this Frog Lake First Nations #121 Unipouihousand 122 PuskiakiweninCustom Election Code.

Interpretation

5.01.1 This Custom Election Code shall be cited as the Frog Lake First Nations #121 Unipouihous and 122 Puskiakiwenin Custom Election Code.
