Cree Language Teacher

Frog Lake Education Authority of Frog Lake First Nations, a Cree community in Northeastern Alberta, runs three schools accredited in the Province of Alberta. We are requiring a Cree Language teacher for the Tus-Tuk-Ee-Skaws School to start on December 1, 2021.

The successful candidates will have:

  • The ability to work with a variety of stakeholders; e.g., students, parents, administration, elders
  • Knowledge of the Alberta School Act and the Alberta Curriculum
  • Understanding of local culture and traditions 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills 
  • Willingness to advocate and participate in outdoor activities
  • Demonstrate healthy living by example

Successful applicants will possess:

  • Cree language instructor certificate or equivalent
  • An undergraduate degree in Education with Cree language preferred
  • Minimum of 1 years teaching experience in Cree Language
  • Pass a criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
  • Knowledge and understanding of how to engage in relationships at the individual, familial and community levels
  • And demonstrate cultural sensitivity
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent computer skills would be considered an asset.

Salary will be determined on experience and level of education
