1 Full Time Home School Liaison Worker

Frog Lake Education Authority of Frog Lake First Nations, a Cree community in Northeastern Alberta, runs three schools accredited in the Province of Alberta. We are requiring a Grade 8 teacher immediately for the Tus-Tuk-Ee-Skaws School.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide direct  home visitation and advocacy services to parents/guardians with children 0-6 familiarizing
  • Provide direct  home visitation and advocacy services to parents/guardians with children 0-6 familiarizing them with opportunities available to families and children 
  • Provide direct home visitation and advocacy services to parents/caregivers with high school students and formalizing them with the high school programs. 
  • Administrative duties will require monthly reports, keeping records of visits and follow-up visits to parents/guardians.
  • Meet with parents/ guardians and identify any children who may benefit from attending and Early Childhood program and work to overcome barriers to their attendance to programming.
  • Participate in required training to enhance skills
  • Deliver home learning packages and programming if necessary
  • Meet with parents/guardians to sign important documents. 
  • Provide occasional support to Frog Lake Outreach School.
  • Other duties as required for home school liaison

Successful applicants will possess:

  • At least 3 years of prior Community Based experience, or the equivalent combination of education & experience
  • Ability to prioritize and problem solve in a crisis situation, able to effectively engage with diverse clients
  • Ability to conduct interviews covering extremely sensitive and confidential issues
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong computer Skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Good physical & mental health, emotional maturity
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with little supervision.
  • Knowledge of the Frog Lake First Nations culture, government, languages and community dynamics is considered an asset.
  • The ability to work with a variety of stakeholders; e.g., students, parents, administration, elders
  • Current and up to date First Aid & CPR but training is available
  • Valid Driver’s License & Driver’s Abstract
  • Criminal Record Check, Child Welfare Information Systems Check
  • Signed Oath of Confidentiality

Salary will be determined on experience and level of education
