Substitute Teacher

Frog Lake Education Authority of Frog Lake First Nations, a Cree community in Northeastern Alberta, runs three schools accredited in the Province of Alberta. We are requiring a Substitute Teacher to teach classes on a temporary and long-term basis. In this role, you will follow the curriculum as provided by the principal or the absent teacher, assign homework and oversee attendance. You will also provide guidelines to students, grade their assignments and keep track of their progress.

Successful applicants will possess:

  • An undergraduate degree in Education;
  • Hold a valid Interim or professional teaching certificate from the Province of Alberta;
  • Previous experience as a part-time or full-time Teacher;
  • Additional experience working with children is a plus;
  • Knowledge and understanding of how to engage in relationships at the individual, familial and community levels;
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity;
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent computer skills would be considered an asset;
  • The ability to remain patient and approachable while also maintaining an orderly classroom;
  • Great organizational skills;
  • Understanding of local culture and traditions;

Competitive Substitute rate of $225 per day
